The Moment Series is inspired by Edo-period Japanese shopfront noren culture, when fabric curtains were used at storefronts for signage, shade, dust protection, visual privacy, and as a soft marker between public and private space.
This series focuses on small everyday scenes. Through simple woodblock-print-inspired graphic motifs, each piece captures a quiet moment — a table setting, a drink, a small dish, or the atmosphere of a familiar space.
This piece is our Izakaya Half Noren, inspired by the warmth of a small Japanese dining scene. The design features fried shishamo and sake motifs, bringing a quiet izakaya atmosphere into the textile.
The fabric is plant-dyed with dyeing yam, also known as Dioscorea cirrhosa, creating a warm earthy brown tone with natural variation. The fried shishamo and sake motifs are hand-painted with botanical color paste made from gallnut.
The fabric has a raw, breathable texture with visible handwoven character. Small irregularities in color, brushwork, weave, and surface texture are part of the handmade charm of this piece.
